Weather Alters Weekend Baseball Schedules

Furman/Gardner-Webb series altered by rain

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman’s Friday afternoon baseball game at Gardner-Webb has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather and rescheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of a doubleheader at Furman’s Latham Stadium, head coach Ron Smith has announced.

First pitch for Saturday’s second game is 4 p.m.

The Paladins and Bulldogs will play Sunday’s series finale at Gardner-Webb’s John Henry Moss Stadium beginning at 2 p.m.

Furman (6-6) defeated USC Upstate, 13-1, on Tuesday at Fluor Field.

The Citadel/College of Charleston series alters schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – With a forecast of continued cold temperatures and rain in store for the area on Friday, The Citadel and College of Charleston have altered the schedule for this weekend's series.

Instead of opening the three-game set on Friday evening, the teams will renew their rivalry on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Riley Park. That will be followed by a game at Patriots Point on Sunday at 2 p.m. and the series finale will take place back at The Joe on Monday at 6 p.m.

The Citadel has also added a weekday game against USC Upstate on Wednesday, March 12, at 5 p.m. at Riley Park. The Bulldogs' game against Coastal Carolina that was postponed on Tuesday will be made up at home on March 25 at 4 p.m.

The Bulldogs are looking to snap a two-game losing skid including an 8-1 setback to Toledo on Wednesday which dropped them below the .500 mark at 6-7. The Cougars saw their nine-game winning streak snapped with a loss to Toledo on Tuesday and are 10-2.

The Bulldogs hold a slim 40-38 in the series against College of Charleston since the Cougars revived their baseball program in 1991. During the time the Cougars were in the Southern Conference (1999-2013), they held a 23-22 edge in regular season league games while The Citadel won four of seven meetings in the conference tournament.

Senior left hander Logan Cribb will open the series on the mound for the Bulldogs. He is coming off a win over Nebraska on Friday, tying his career high with eight strikeouts. Junior southpaw James Reeves, who is 2-0 with wins over Virginia Tech and Nebraska, will work Sunday's game.

Monday's starter will either be junior lefty Kevin Connell or sophomore righty Austin Livingston, but both are expected to see action.

CONWAY, S.C. – A revised schedule will await the Elon  and UNCG baseball teams as they travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Chanticleer Classic this weekend.

Elon has added a home game on Monday, March 10 at 4 p.m. against UMBC.

UNCG will now face UMBC at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Minnesota at 11 a.m. Sunday and Coastal Carolina on Monday at 4 p.m.
