SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon junior Jordan Kaufman has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played Feb. 24 through March 2. Kaufman was 2-0 in singles play and went 2-0 in doubles competition with teammate Cameron Silverman as the Phoenix topped Brown (4-3) before opening SoCon play with a 7-0 win over Chattanooga. 

Kaufman began the week at No. 5 singles and scored a 6-5, 6-4 victory over Brown’s Sam Fife.  The Armonk, N.Y., native moved up to No. 4 singles and scored his second straight-sets win of the week with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over UTC’s John Peacey. 

Competing at the top doubles position, Kaufman and Silverman downed Brown’s Lucas Da Silveira and Justin To, 8-5.  They closed the week with an 8-1 victory over UTC’s Peacey and Jorge Varon. 

Kaufman has now won his last four decisions in singles play and is 5-0 in his last five doubles decisions. 

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Zach Bost (Appalachian State), Furman’s Adam Steryous, UNCG’s Daniel Mack, Samford’s Fares Kilani, Chattanooga’s Derek Brown and Wofford’s Rob Galloway.
