SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior Yasmeen Ebada has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played Feb. 24 through March 2. Ebada went 6-0 last week as the Bulldogs earned wins over UAB (6-1), Appalachian State (4-3) and Western Carolina (6-1) to improve to 7-1 on the season.

A native of Cairo, Egypt, Ebada earned three straight-sets victories at No. 3 singles for the Bulldogs. She opened the week with a 6-3, 6-1 win over UAB’s Pardis Kianoush and followed that performance with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Appalachian State’s Gabrielle Wreder. Ebada picked up her third win of the week with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over WCU’s Megan McLinden.

Ebada teamed with three different doubles partners last week and still came away with three wins. Paired with Emily Mallory at No. 3 doubles, the Samford pair won 8-1 over UAB’s Kianoush and Paula Castro. Ebada then moved to No. 2 doubles and joined Jessica Northcutt, where they won 8-3 over Appalachian State’s Clare Cox and Megan Mullen. Ebada’s final partner for the week was Stephanie N’tcha at No. 2 doubles as the Bulldog tandem topped Shannon Bettiol and Sara Ruiz Pajares, 8-0.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Brianna Armellino, Elon’s Bryn Khoury, Furman’s Ansley Speakss, Chattanooga’s Alexa Flynn and Western Carolina’s Stacia Kissell.
