Greenville, S.C. – Sunday’s softball series finale between Furman and Samford, which was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. before being moved to 10 a.m. due to the threat of rain, has been cancelled by inclement weather, it was announced on Sunday morning by Paladin head coach Kyle Jamieson.
The Paladins (14-11, 2-0 SoCon) notched a series sweep of the Bulldogs to open the Southern Conference season by scoring 4-0 and 5-1 victories on Saturday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. Senior Lauren Collier tossed a four-hit shutout and delivered a two-run double in the series opener before coming on in relief to earn a save in game two. Sophomore Sieara Bishop homered in both victories as Furman jumped to the early lead in the SoCon standings.
Samford (20-7, 0-2 SoCon) returns home to host UNCG next weekend while Furman travels Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., for a three-game series with the Chattanooga Mocs next weekend.
