SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior Yasmeen Ebada has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 3-9. It is the second consecutive week she has won the award after posting a perfect 4-0 mark last week. Ebada helped the Bulldogs snap South Alabama’s school-record eight-match win streak with a 5-2 decision before cruising to a 7-0 win over Georgia Southern.

The No. 3 singles player for Samford, Ebada knocked off South Alabama’s Monica Mitta, 6-3, 6-3, before handing Georgia Southern’s Stephanie Woods a 6-1, 6-0 defeat.

The Cairo, Egypt, native improved to 8-1 in doubles play last week with a pair of wins with partner Carita Moolman. The team of Ebada and Moolman topped USA’s Cinta Maria Papke and Mary Angela Martin 8-4 before downing Georgia Southern’s Giulia Riepe and Paola Garrido by the same score.

The Bulldogs return to action March 14 when Samford hosts Charlotte.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Brianna Armellino, Davidson’s Jenna Brunner, Elon’s Jordan Johnston, Chattanooga’s Kaylene Chadwell, Western Carolina’s Stacia Kissell and Wofford’s Julia Paulson.
