SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson forward De’Mon Brooks has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 28 through Feb. 3, while Georgia Southern’s Kyle Doyle earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award, the league office announced today (Feb. 4).

Davidson’s De’Mon Brooks earned the Player of the Week award for the second time in three weeks as he averaged 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots and shot 75 percent from the field in a pair of wins last week.  Brooks recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds in Davidson’s win over Chattanooga last Thursday. He followed that performance with 23 points and eight rebounds in a win over The Citadel and has scored at least 20 points in five of his last six games as the Wildcats have won eight of their last nine contests.

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Kyle Doyle, Georgia Southern, F, Hepzibeh, Ga.
Georgia Southern’s Kyle Doyle averaged 9.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Eagles last week.  The Hepzibeh, Ga., native earned his first start of the season in GSU’s win over The Citadel, scoring six points and setting a personal best with 12 rebounds.  In a two-point win at UNCG on Saturday, Doyle tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.  He shot 60 percent from the field last week for the Eagles  and ranks second in the SoCon among freshmen with 5.3 rebounds per game.
