SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon’s Lucas Troutman has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Feb. 18-24, while Samford’s Isaiah Williams earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award, the league office announced today (Feb. 25).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lucas Troutman, Elon, Sr., F, Belton, S.C.
Troutman averaged 18.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the field as Elon earned three wins last week. The senior improved his production as the week progressed as he began with 13 points and nine rebounds at UNCG before tallying 20 points and six rebounds in a 66-61 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday. Troutman capped the week with 23 points and seven rebounds at Furman on Monday night. The Belton, S.C., native added seven blocked shots last week and now ranks sixth all-time in the SoCon with 207 career blocked shots. Troutman ranks seventh in the league in scoring this season (16.0 ppg) and is ninth in rebounds (6.4 rpg).

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Isaiah Williams, Samford, G, Buford, Ga.
Williams scored a game-high 24 points as Samford fell at The Citadel (81-71) Monday night. The guard scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half to spearhead Samford’s rally. Williams connected on 9-of-14 attempts from the field and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He added three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 27 minutes against The Citadel. Williams’ 24 points was two points shy of his season high set in November against Campbellsville. Williams leads all SoCon freshmen with 12.8 points and 3.3 assists per game.
