SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Ashton Moore has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Feb. 11-17, while UNCG’s Tevon Saddler earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award, the league office announced today (Feb. 18).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ashton Moore, The Citadel, Jr., G, Suffolk, Va.
Moore averaged 28.5 points, 4.5 rebounds 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals and shot 53 percent from the field as the Bulldogs suffered losses to Furman and Davidson last week. Moore scored a team-high 22 points on the strength of 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc against the Paladins. Monday night against Davidson, the junior scored a career-high 35 points and was credited with four assists. Moore’s 35 points are tied for the fifth-highest single game point total in the SoCon this season and were the highest output for a Bulldog in 19 years. His 35-point effort was nearly three times his season average of 12.9 points per game. Moore shot 8-of-12 from 3-point range this week and was 11-of-11 from the free-throw line.

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Tevon Saddler, UNCG, G, Aberdeen, Md.
Guard Tevon Saddler turned in a balanced effort over two games for the Spartans this week as UNCG went 1-1 with a win at Georgia Southern (68-56) before falling in overtime to Western Carolina (82-77). Saddler scored 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists in the Spartans’ win at GSU. The Aberdeen, Md., native followed that performance with 11 points and four rebounds against Western Carolina. Saddler added three blocked shots over the two games last week. He currently leads all Southern Conference freshmen with 12.6 points per game.
