SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior Stephanie N’tcha has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played through Feb. 16. N’tcha is 3-0 in singles play and is 3-1 in doubles competition as the Bulldogs are off to a 3-1 start in dual matches this spring.

A native of Abomy-Calavi, Benin, N’tcha is 2-0 at the No. 2 singles position and moved up to the No. 1 spot, where she posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over UT-San Antonio’s Miriam Canudas. N’tcha has won all three of her singles matches in straight sets.

Paired with Carita Moolman, the Samford duo went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles and also earned a 6-2 victory over Kennesaw State’s Tamara Plocher and Alexandra Apostu at No. 1. N’tcha then teamed with Jessica Northcutt at No. 2 doubles and posted an 8-1 win over UTSA’s Daniela Garcia and Alena Shichkova.

The Bulldogs return to the courts Wednesday when Samford hosts Jacksonville State.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Clare Cox, Davidson’s Brites Moniz-Soares, Furman’s Karlee Bryde, Chattanooga’s Kaylene Chadwell and Wofford’s Julia Paulson.
