Chattanooga 10th at Central District Invitational
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is ins 10th place after 36 holes Monday at the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State. Chattanooga shot rounds of 292 and 302 to stand seven shots behind Notre Dame in ninth and 22 clear of Oakland in 11th.
Senior Jordan Britt opened the spring campaign carding 72 and 74 for a total of 146. She is tied for 24th overall at 2-over-par. She is two shots ahead of Emily McLennan, who is tied for 34th at 148 (74-74).
Agathe Sauzon is one behind McLennan at 149. She had the Mocs’ low round of the day with a 2-under-par 70 in round one. Isabella Loza shot 76-77 for a 153.
No. 21 UCF holds the team lead over No. 14 Vanderbilt. The Knights’ 15-under-par 561 is two better than the Commodores’ 563. No. 20 Michigan State is third at 566.
UCF’s Fanny Cnops is the individual leader at 10-under 134. Vandy’s Simin Feng is second at 136, while Louisville’s Laura Restrepo is another stroke back in third at 137.
The final round starts at 9 a.m. on the Cypress Links Course. Chattanooga is paired with Oakland and fellow SoCon member UNCG. Tomorrow’s groups begin on holes 10-13 in the shotgun start.
Wofford 12th at Amelia Island Intercollegiate
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – The Wofford College women’s golf team opened is 2014 spring season on Monday at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate, contested at the Amelia Island National Golf Club. The Terriers are in 12th place after the opening two rounds with a 36-hole total of 40-over-par 616.
Leading the Terriers at the tournament is junior Lauren Dunbar, who is tied for 21st place. Dunbar shot a first-round 3-over-par 75, followed by a second-round 2-over-par 74 to sit at 5-over-par.
Other Terriers competing in the first tournament of the spring season include senior Anne Marie Covar, freshman Katy Funk, freshman Allyson Mariewicz and sophomore Maegan Higgins. Covar leads the remaining bunch with a two-round total of 8-over-par 152 and is tied for 34th place.
Tournament host Florida International leads the field at 17-under-par with a 13-shot lead over second-place Kennesaw State. FIU’s Camila Serrano leads the medalist race with a 36-hole total of 11-under-par 133.
Fourteen teams and 78 individuals are competing in the 54-hole tournament.
Tuesday’s final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
