Davidson's Sunday Baseball DH Canceled

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball's doubleheader against Buffalo at Wilson Field on Sunday has been canceled due to weather-related field conditions.

The Wildcats and Bulls were originally scheduled to play a three-game series Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.), but the heavy snows that blanketed the Carolinas made the field unplayable.

Davidson is slated to open the season Tuesday hosting Wake Forest at 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the teams since 2009. Davidson head coach Dick Cooke was a recipient of the College Baseball Insider Inspiration Award this past summer that is named after Wake Forest coach Tom Walter. Walter donated a kidney to a freshman outfielder before the 2011 season, which inspired the now-annual award. Cooke was honored for returning to the diamond after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident caused by a drunk driver just before the start of fall practice in 2012.
