TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sophomore Valentina Romero (+5) carded a second-round 75 to finish the day tied for 10th place as the Furman women’s golf team continued play Saturday at the second annual Florida State Match-Up Tournament at the par-72, 6,314-yard Southwood Golf Course. The Paladins (+28) are in eighth place following two rounds.

Romero teed off of 10 and registered three birdies on the day, including a birdie on her final hole, to finish 3-under for the second round and 13 strokes behind leader Matilda Castren of Florida State, who shot a 68 for the second consecutive day. Castren leads runner-up Ashlan Ramsey of Clemson by six strokes heading into Sunday’s final round.

Paladin freshman Taylor Totland (+6) fired a 74 on Saturday with birdies on No. 4 and No. 16 to move up into a tie for 19th, while rookie Macy McRaney (+8) also carded a 74 in the second round after posting four birdies in the round to conclude Saturday’s play tied for 28th.

Senior Aubrie Street (+17) shot an 87 to enter Sunday’s round tied for 55th, and sophomore Stephanie Carlozzi (+18) shot a 79 with a birdie on No. 3, a par-3, to tie for 57th. Senior Ingunn Gunnarsdottir, playing as an individual, recorded five birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15, to finish Saturday’s round tied for 36th.

No. 13 South Carolina (+10) holds a three-stroke lead over No. 12 Clemson (+13), while No. 46 Florida State (+16), No. 30 Virginia (+18), and No. 39 Texas A&M (+24) round out the top five heading into the final day of competition.

The tournament will conclude Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
