SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Cassie Crawford, a track and field athlete at Appalachian State, has been named the North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 12, the league office announced Wednesday.
Crawford, a senior nursing major from Apex, N.C., holds a 3.92 GPA. She set a new Holmes Center record clearing 12-8.25 at in the pole vault at the Mountaineer Open this weekend. Her vault was a personal best and was good enough to rank third in App State history.
Also nominated for NCEL Student-Athlete of the Week were Citadel wrestler Joaquin Marquez, Elon women’s basketball player Zora Stephenson and Samford women’s basketball player Christy Robinson.
