SIUE drops three matches Friday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – SIUE’s Jake Residori improved to 12-6 for the season Friday with three wins at the Missouri Duals. The Cougars did not fare as well as a team. SIUE lost to South Dakota State 29-9, Kent State 36-6, and Missouri 39-10.
Residori opened the day with a 3-1 win over South Dakota State's David Kocer. He earned his fourth pin of the season over Kent State's Caleb Marsh. He completed the day with a 12-2 major decision over Missouri's Matt Lemanowicz.
SIUE, 3-10 in dual matches, won three matches overall in the South Dakota State dual, including Residori's win. SIUE's Patrick Myers upended Brance Simms 7-1 at 133 pounds. SIUE's Chris Johnson was a 5-3 winner at heavyweight over J.J Everard.
A handful of Cougars will travel to the Midlands Championship in Evanston, Illinois, Dec. 29-30. SIUE rings in the New Year Jan. 7 with its first home event of the season against Southern Conference rival Chattanooga at the Vadalabene Center.
