OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – ETSU middle blocker Meredith Hardy received Second Team All-American honors by the Senior CLASS Award as the committee announced its postseason awards on Thursday.

Hardy, who was voted one of ten finalists for the award in October, finished her four-year playing career as ETSU’s all-time leader in blocks (621) and block assists (534), while also totaling 1,335 kills and a .306 (1335-431-2995) attack percentage. The Kingsport, Tenn. native was also a three-time first team all-conference selection and named 2013 A-Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Illinois’ Liz McMahon was selected the 2014 Senior CLASS Award winner.

The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I volleyball coaches, national volleyball media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I volleyball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – classroom, community, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
