SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Gardner-Webb redshirt sophomore Austin Trott has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Dec. 10-16. The selection is made by the league office.Trott went 5-0 at the Cleveland State Open on Saturday to earn the title in the 165-pound bracket. The Kingsland, Ga., native was dominant, earning bonus points in each match. He had three major decisions and two pins.Trott opened his title run with a 13-3 major decision over Buffalo’s Derek Holcomb and followed that up with a 9-0 major decision over Eastern Michigan’s Dakota Juarez. Trott added another shutout in the quarterfinals, downing unattached Campbell wrestler Paul Duggan 8-0.In the semifinals, Trott pinned Ohio’s Austin Reese in just 51 seconds to advance to the title bout.
