SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG guard Lucy Mason has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Mason averaged 16.0 points per game and added 11 assists in two contests over the past week for the Spartans. UNCG topped South Carolina State, 70-50, on Thursday before falling at VCU on Sunday.

The junior guard scored 18 points on 9-of-18 shooting against the Lady Bulldogs. Mason then recorded 14 points and a career-high eight assists against VCU on Sunday.

The native of Stone Mountain, Ga. holds a 3.82 career grade point average while majoring in African American studies and economics.
