SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Tevon Saddler has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 9-15, while The Citadel’s Jake Wright earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award, the league office announced Tuesday (Dec. 16).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tevon Saddler, G, So., Aberdeen, Md.
Tevon Saddler averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks last week as UNCG picked up wins over Greensboro College (82-78) and ETSU (80-79).  Saddler began the week with a team-high 24 points and four assists against Greensboro College.  The sophomore led the Spartans in scoring again with 24 points, six assists and five rebounds on the road at ETSU.  Saddler shot 64 percent (16-of-25) from the floor for the week and connected on 79 percent of his free throw attempts.

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Jake Wright, G, Hopkins, Minn.
The Citadel’s Jake Wright has been named the CRONS Freshman of the Week award after scoring in double figures for the fourth time in his last five games.  The Hopkins, Minn., native poured in 15 points in The Citadel’s loss to Chattanooga last week.  Wright was 4-of-7 from the field and knocked down 3-of-4 shots from 3-point range against the Mocs. Wright scored 13 of The Citadel’s 23 first-half points off the bench and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
