Tartt And Tull Earn AFCA All-America Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Two Southern Conference defensive players earned All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Assocation on Monday.  Samford defensive back Jaquiski Tartt and Chattanooga’s Davis Tull were both named to the 25-member team.

Tull and South Dakota State running back Zach Zenner are the only three-time members of this team, selected by coaches at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level.  They are the first three-time picks since Appalachian State’s Dexter Coakley (1994-96).

Tull, a defensive end, led the Southern Conference with 10.5 sacks and set the league record with 37.0 in his career.  A three-time SoCon Defensive Player of the Year, Tull led one of the top defenses in the nation.

During the 2014 season, Tartt was second on the team with 62 tackles, including 53 solo stops. He also had one interception during the season.

For his career, Tartt tallied 277 total tackles, including 199 solo tackles. He also had six interceptions, 20 pass break-ups and 6.5 tackles for loss.

This marks the third-straight season Tartt has been named to an All-America team, as he was named to the Sports Network’s team in 2012 and 2013. Tartt is also on the watch list for the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the top defensive player in all of FCS football. Last month, Tartt was named to the All-SoCon team for the third year in a row.
