• Six Southern Conference teams are in action this weekend, while Mercer and VMI are idle.

• Chattanooga can clinch the league’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs with a win over Wofford Saturday.

• Home teams are 10-9 in conference play this season after going 21-15 last year.

• Seven of the 19 league games this season have been decided by one possession. Sixteen of the SoCon’s 36 league games were decided by one possession last year.

• Chattanooga senior Davis Tull needs just one sack to become the league's all-time leader in career sacks.  Tull enters Saturday game with 36.0 career sacks, trailing just Josh Jeffries of Appalachian State (1999-02) with 36.5.

• The Chattanooga Mocs are ranked in both major FCS polls this week.
UTC is ranked 11th by the FCS coaches and is 13th in the Sports Network poll.
• Samford, Western Carolina and Wofford are among the teams receiving votes.

• The Southern Conference has one player on the Walter Payton Award Watch List, while two are currently on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. Five SoCon players were named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List. The Payton Award is presented annually to the most outstanding player at the FCS level, while the Buchanan honors the nation’s top defensive player in FCS. The Rice Award is given to the nation’s top freshman.
