Furman's Lissek Named to TDS Team of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman’s Sven Lissek was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week after guiding the Paladins to the second round of the NCAA tournament, it was announced Tuesday.

The junior goalkeeper made two saves during a penalty shootout as the 22nd-ranked Paladins advanced past UAB in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday in Birmingham, Ala.  In Sunday’s second-round match at No. 12 Washington, Lissek saved seven shots to notch his Southern Conference single-season record 12th shutout and made two more saves in a penalty shootout before the Huskies advanced past the Paladins in nine rounds.

Lissek, a native of Sewau, Germany, helped Furman to a 12-5-5 record, SoCon tournament title and 7-1-2 record over the Paladins final 10 matches. He paced the league in goals against average and shutouts while earning second team All-SoCon honors.
