The Paladin men entered Saturday’s meet ranked 19th nationally after posting a second-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Furman clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at the conclusion of the regional race, becoming the first Paladin cross country team to qualify for the NCAA championships in the modern, competitive era.

Furman’s only other appearances in the national championship meet came in 1965 and 1970. The Paladins’ highest finish at the national meet was recorded in 1965, when Furman finished 12 out of 18 teams.

The Paladins will open the indoor track and field season December 6 at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C.
