Dunbar medalist, Wofford finishes second at Winthrop Fall Invitational
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior Lauren Dunbar earned her second trophy of the fall season, shooting a 6-over-par 78 to earn co-medalist honors at the rain-shortened Winthrop Fall Invitational on Sunday at Rock Hill Country Club.
Dunbar shared the trophy with Appalachian State’s Madalyn Davis. It earned the Columbia, S.C., native her second piece of hardware in less than a month, as she also won the Cincinnati Bearcat Classic in early October.
Only three individuals in the nine-team, 47-player field broke 80, with rainy and windy conditions affecting play. The tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes before inclement weather canceled Saturday’s first round.
Wofford finished second with an 18-hole score of 40-over-par 328. App State edged the Terriers by five strokes. USC Upstate finished behind Wofford in third (+43), followed by host Winthrop (+44).
Freshman Nicole Chin and junior Emiley Pagrabs tied for 12th with a pair of 11-over 83s. Sophomore Katy Funk finished 22nd with an 84 and freshman Lela Oakley earned 25th with an 85. All five Terrier competitors finished in the top 25.
The end of the tournament concludes Wofford’s fall season. The Terriers pick back up Feb. 23-24 at the Amelia Island Collegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
