Furman's Wilks Claims Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman setter Jo Wilks has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Wilks tallied 28 assists in the Paladins sweep of Samford on Friday to clinch the SoCon Regular Season title. The junior added 41 assists in the team’s 3-0 win over Chattanooga on Saturday. Wilks averaged 11.5 assists per set over the weekend to help Furman finish the regular season with a 14-2 conference record.

Wilks earned first-team All-SoCon honors on Monday, after leading the conference in assists per set this season with 11.02, which ranks 36th nationally. The health science major holds a career 3.73 grade point average and was named Academic All-SoCon last season.
