GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman senior Clint Ritter has been named to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week after guiding the Paladins to a Southern Conference tournament title and NCAA tournament bid this past weekend, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Ritter, a native of Cedar Hill, Texas, anchored a Paladin defense that posted shutouts of second-seeded Wofford, 1-0, and No. 1 seed Mercer, 1-0, to capture the school’s 12th SoCon tournament title. The defender was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player following the Mercer match for helping Furman to its third consecutive shutout and seventh win in its last eight matches.

Furman found out on Monday that it will open NCAA tournament play on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EST against UAB at West Campus Field in Birmingham, Ala. The winner of Thursday’s match advances to face No. 12 Washington in Seattle, Wash., on Sunday.
