Mercer's Cropp Earns Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer soccer player Maggie Cropp has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Cropp, a native of Morgan Hill, Calif., recorded a pair of shutouts last weekend to lead Mercer to a 1-0-1 record. The junior made a season-high seven saves in the Bears’ win over Wofford on Friday. She then tied that number with seven saves in the tie with Furman on Sunday.

Cropp was also named the College Sports Madness SoCon Player of the Week for her performances against Wofford and Furman. The goalkeeper has played in all 13 games for the Bears, making 10 starts, while leading the SoCon with a 0.67 goals-against average in her first season in the league.

The sociology major, who was an A-Sun All-Academic Honoree as a freshman in 2012, holds a 3.92 grade point average.
