SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Andrea Fisher and ETSU’s Katie Muey have been named Southern Conference Volleyball Offensive and Defense Player of the Week, respectively, while Wofford’s Danni Densford earned Freshman honors for games of September 30-October 4. The selections are made by the conference office.
Offensive Player of the Week: Andrea Fisher, Furman, Senior, Outside Hitter, Burlington, Ontario, Canada
Andrea Fisher racked up 30 kills, 4.29 kills per set, and compiled a .429 hitting percentage in a pair of conference wins for Furman last week. Fisher put down 15 kills and a hit a season-high .448 in a three-set win over Wofford on Wednesday. The senior outside hitter then followed with 15 kills, a .407 hitting percentage and three service aces in a 3-1 win over UNCG on Saturday. Fisher currently leads the SoCon in conference games with 62 kills and 4.43 kills per set. The native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada received the honor for the second time in her career.

Defensive Player of the Week: Katie Muey, ETSU, Senior, Libero, Alexandria, Ind.
Katie Muey recorded 64 digs for a blazing 7.11 digs per set in two ETSU victories last week. The senior totaled a career-high 37 digs, most in the SoCon this season, in a five-set win over Radford on Tuesday. Muey then tallied 27 digs in the Bucs’ 3-1 win against UNCG on Friday. The libero currently leads the SoCon with 5.06 digs per set overall and 5.73 digs per set in conference games. It is the first career honor for the native of Alexandria, Ind. in her first season in Socon.

Freshman of the Week: Danni Densford, Wofford, Middle Hitter, Sellersburg, Ind.
Danni Densford recorded 18 kills with a .469 hitting percentage and added eight blocks over two matches for Wofford last week. The rookie middle hitter recorded 10 kills and a .400 hitting percentage against Furman on Wednesday. Densford followed with eight kills, a .583 hitting percentage and a match-high five blocks in the Terriers’ 3-0 win over Mercer on Saturday. The native of Hurdle Mills, N.C. currently leads the conference with a .368 hitting percentage and takes the honor for the second time this season.
