SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel women’s soccer player Vanessa Aponte has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Aponte recorded her first career hat trick on Sunday, leading the Bulldogs to an 8-2 win at Chattanooga in the regular season finale. The senior forward added an assist to her three goals and has season totals of 10 goals, four assists and 24 points.

Aponte, a two-time All-SoCon selection, holds a 3.30 grade point average. The native of Orlando, Fla. ranks first in Citadel history in assists (19), third in goals (26) and second in points (71).
