VMI's DeNijs Named Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI cross country runner Daniel DeNijs has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

DeNijs was VMI's top finisher at the WCU Catamount Classic last week, coming in third overall. He ran a 25:49.15 in the men’s 8K event to lead the Keydets to a one-point team victory over SoCon opponent ETSU.

The junior from Henrico, Va. holds an overall 3.57 grade point average. The Keydets have won two straight meets, their first such streak since 2011.
