GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman has been named the Golfweek College Women’s Team of the Week, as announced by the publication.

Last week, the Paladins won the Lady Paladin Invitational in record-setting fashion. Sophomore Taylor Totland captured individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 209, the best 54-hole score in tournament history, while Furman’s three-round total of 860 shattered the previous tournament low of 865.

The Paladins beat runner-up Wake Forest by 22 shots, while Totland’s score was five strokes better than the second-place individual, Jennifer Peng of Yale. Furman’s trio of freshman Alice Chen, senior Laura DeMarco and junior Valentina Romeo tied for seventh at the tournament.

“Our team is honored to be the Golfweek Team of the Week,” said Paladin head coach Kelley Hester. “Gaining national recognition is definitely something that you strive for. The girls were excited, and this will help keep them motivated. Once you taste success, you keep working hard to find it again.”

The Paladins will compete at the Mercedes-Benz Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 17-19.
