SPARTANBURG, S.C. – MiMi DuBose, a basketball player at Georgia Southern, has been named the North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 29, the league office announced Wednesday.
DuBose is a junior from Jefferson, Ga., and holds a 4.0 GPA in kinesiology. She averaged 14.5 points per game to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 record last week. DuBose nailed six 3-pointers over the weekend to become the all-time leader in school history in 3-pointers made with 171. In Georgia Southern’s win over Western Carolina on Saturday, she scored 14 points and notched a pair of steals and assists. DuBose hit 4-of-5 shots from 3 to score 15 points in the Eagles’ win over Appalachian State on Monday.
Also nominated for NCEL Student-Athlete of the Week was Appalachian State women’s basketball player Maryah Sydnor.
