SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson forward De’Mon Brooks has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 14-20, while UNCG’s Tevon Saddler earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award for the second consecutive week, the league office announced today (Jan. 21).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: De’Mon Brooks, Davidson, Sr., F, Charlotte, N.C.
Brooks averaged 26.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games last week as the Wildcats went 1-1 in league play. The senior recorded a double-double as he tied his career high with 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in an 87-85 overtime loss to Elon. The Charlotte, N.C., native followed that performance with 24 points and nine rebounds in a 93-82 win at UNCG. Brooks shot 56 percent from the field, knocked down 14-of-16 (.875) free throws and added four assists over the two games. He is tied for fifth in the league in scoring (17.8 ppg), ranks sixth in the SoCon in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and is shooting 53 percent from the field this season.

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Tevon Saddler, UNCG, G, Aberdeen, Md.
UNCG’s Tevon Saddler earned the award for the second consecutive week and the third time this season. Originally from Aberdeen, Md., Saddler averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds last week as the Spartans rallied to beat The Citadel in overtime (69-65) before falling to Davidson (93-82). Saddler scored nine points in the second half to spark UNCG’s rally against the Bulldogs. He scored 20 points and dished out a personal-best seven assists against Davidson. Saddler is second among freshmen in the SoCon with 12.4 points and 3.2 assists per game.
