The Bulldog men accounted for four of the top 10 finishes in Saturday's meet. Raeven Lantz led the pack for the third consecutive race, earning third place with a time of 26:37. Ross Jordan trailed close behind, finishing fourth with a time of 27:01. Grant Smith (5^th place, 28:06) and Paul Fleckenstein (6^th place, 28:10) were among the other top finishers for the Bulldogs.

Charleston Southern and South Carolina State tied for second place with 58 points for the Division I teams. North Greenville finished first in Division II with 30 points.

On the women's side, Danielle McKee recorded a season-best time of 19:10 and out-ran all competitors, earning a first place finish. Ashley Beach (5^th place, 19:41) and Emani Little (6^th place, 19:45) were also among The Citadel's top runners. The Bulldogs earned a second place team finish despite competing without their No. 2 runner Jackie Thompson.

The Charleston Southern women's team took home the crown in the women's race with 32 points and North Greenville finished first for the Division II teams with 34 points.

The Citadel has two weeks off before heading to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Disney Classic at ESPN's Wide World of Sports.

Hayden Bates finished 30th overall in the gold race, running a 22:24.10. She was followed by Manya Swickin 43rd with a time of 22:44.70. Brigid Behrens ran a time of 22:46.60 to take 45th overall while Caroline Turner claimed 62nd in a time of 23:03.90. Sarah Paddon finished in 23:15.20 to grab 72nd place and round out the Davidson competitors in the gold race.

In the green race, Rachel McKay led the way with a ninth place finish. She recorded a time of 23:37.50 and was followed by Lauren Carter in 23rd place with a time of 24:54.30. Ali Cobb took 66th place in a time of 27:27.80.
 
The Wildcats will take a break before traveling to Alabama in mid-October. The squad will take part in the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 18

Furman women place fourth, men seventh at Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree
STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Furman women's cross country team placed three runners among the top six scorers to finish fourth with 94 points Saturday at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., while the Paladin men finished seventh overall with 180 points.  Oklahoma State, the reigning men's national champion, won both meets, tallying 29 points in the men's 8K race and 51 points in the women's 5K competition.

Freshman Allie Buchalski placed fourth in the women's race with a time of 17:53.70, followed by rookie Grace Tinkey in fifth at 17:57.48.  Junior Sinead Haughey finished the race in sixth place, recording a time of 18:03.73.  Freshman Laura Miller placed 37th after notching a time of 19:12.95, while senior Kacie Schoen rounded out the Paladin scorers with a 42nd-place finish (19:28.21).  Senior Catherine Burton finished the race in 19:42.49, claiming 50th place, while freshman Ann Sisson was 57th at 19:56.99.

For the Paladin men, freshman Tanner Hinkle led the team with a time of 25:10.28 for 17th place, while fellow rookie Troy Reeder placed 30th at 25:42.28.  Senior Jack Klecker notched a time of 26:18.78 to wrap up 40th place, followed closely by freshman Nate Riech in 43rd with a time of 26:24.68.  Junior Tripp Hurt completed the Furman scorers, taking 50th place at 26:47.53.  Freshman Brock Baker was 53rd with a time of 26:56.27, and junior William Ivey claimed 57th at 27:11.03.  Freshman Connor Sorrels completed the course in 27:12.03.

The Paladins will compete at the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C. on October 18 and at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on October 19.

Georgia Southern takes third at Will Wilson Citadel Invitational
STATESBORO, Ga. – All eight Eagles posted season-best times at the Will Wilson The Citadel Invitational this morning in Charleston, S.C., as the Georgia Southern Cross Country recorded a third-place team finish. Freshman Ashton Lord was at the front of the pack for Georgia Southern for the third-straight meet and finished 13^th overall. Times for five Eagles were ranked in the top 30.

Freshman Brooke Stanley and sophomore Peyton Holm took the second and third spots for Georgia Southern as they finished 21^st and 22^nd, respectively. Freshman Katelyn Chancey and graduate Sherril McFarlane rounded out the top 30.

Georgia Southern will compete next weekend at the BSC Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., where the Eagles will be able to preview the course for the SoCon Championship on November 2^nd.

UNCG women, men compete at UVA/Panorama Farms Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s cross country placed seventh at the prestigious UVA/Panorama Farms Invitational Saturday in 5,000-meter course while the split squad ran at the Charlotte Invitational in McAlpine Park.

The Spartans posted 168 points at the Panorama Farms to finish in front of Auburn, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Navy, Liberty, High Point and George Mason. Host Virginia won the event with 42 points while Williams & Mary was second with 67 points.

Senior sisters Shaina Sumney  and Chelsea Sumney led the way for the Spartans as they finished 10^th and 12^th place overall, respectively. Shaina turned in a time of 17:21.0 while Chelsea finished in a time of 17:21.30. Elaina Balouris of William & Mary won the race with a time of 16:31.8 while Virginia’s Barbara Strehler was second in a time of 16:32.7.

Sophomore Lydia Saina placed 31^st Saturday with a time of 18:00.20. Redshirt freshman Eira Jensen recorded a new personal-best time in the 5,000-meter distance with a time of 18:24.40, trimming seven seconds from her time set at the Elon Invitational.

Additionally, redshirt freshman Katherine Link (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) also set a new career-best time finishing with a time of 18:43.70 just under her previous time of 18:45.

Three Spartans took part at the Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Park Saturday. Senior Shannon Hall was the Spartans’ top finisher with a time of 23:38.70 to place 57^th. Sophomore Meredith Hicks and junior Haley Wenos out the Spartans in Charlotte with times of 26:06.7 and 28:40.5

The UNCG men’s cross country team posted nine personal-records in two events Saturday as the Spartans took part in the UVA/Panorama Farms Invitational and the Charlotte Invitational. Six student-athletes set new top times at Panorama Farms while three turned in new marks at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, both at the 8,000-meter distance.

Senior Abraham Kemboi posted the top time for the Spartans, placing 63^rd at the UVA race with a time of 25:13.3. The Spartans’ top two runners, Paul Chelimo  and Paul Katam, did not race in either event Saturday.

Junior Dylan Belles was the first Spartan to set a new personal-record as he placed 68^th with a time of 25:25.7, trimming over 25 seconds off his previous top time. Sophomore Josh Crawford  cut 19 seconds from his top time, placing 86^th in a time of 25.57.2.

Additionally, Brandon Cain, Patrick O’Grady, Max Bergstrom  and Jason Barber all turned in new personal-best times at Panorama Farms as the Spartans placed 13^th in the team standings.

At Charlotte, three of the Spartans’ four runners set new marks, surpassing their previous top times set last time out at the Elon Invitational. JT Booker  turned in a time of 27:39.30 to place 72^nd while David Guthrie and Max Chandler recorded new top times at 28:18.00 and 28:18.90, respectively.
