SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Clare Latham, a sophomore on the Chattanooga women’s soccer team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 25, the league office announced Wednesday.

Latham, a Cordova, Tenn., native, holds a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in early childhood education. She was named to the Dean’s List and Academic Honor Roll both semesters as a freshman in 2012.

The midfielder helped lead UTC to a 2-1 win over Tennessee Tech on Friday, scoring the opening goal of the game and assisting on the game-winner. Latham leads the Mocs in in scoring (10) and goals (four) this season. She is tied for fifth in the league in scoring and is fourth in points per game and goals.

Also nominated for student-athlete of the week were: Appalachian State volleyball player Jess Keller, Citadel volleyball player Erin Bucherl, Davidson women’s soccer player Jenni Isaac, Elon women’s soccer player Kate Murphy, Georgia Southern volleyball player Katalin Minnerly and Western Carolina volleyball player Addy George.
