Wofford's Jaramillo Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford midfielder Nestor Jaramillo has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition Sept. 9-15. The selection is made by the league office.

Jaramillo, a sophomore from Lexington, S.C., racked up seven points on three goals and an assist in helping Wofford to a 2-0 mark last week.

Against Liberty on Wednesday, the 2012 SoCon Freshman of the Year assisted on Wofford’s first goal of the contest, which tied the game at 1 in the 24th minute. He would later add a goal of his own for some insurance in the 66th minute as the Terriers cruised to the 4-1 win.

Jaramillo topped that output against Jacksonville on Saturday, scoring twice in Wofford’s 3-1 win over the Dolphins. He scored the Terriers’ first two goals of the day, the second of which would prove to be the game-winner.

The three goals last week were Jaramillo’s first of the season and already surpass his total (two) from last year.

The weekly award is the first of Jaramillo’s career.

Wofford (2-3-1), which is unbeaten in its last three contests, returns to action Wednesday at crosstown rival USC Upstate at 7 p.m.

Also nominated: Trey Hemphill (Appalachian State), Alec Rotunda (Davidson), Jason Waterman (Elon) and Adrian McInnis (Furman).
