Elon finishes 10th at “Mo”Morial

BRYAN, Texas – The Elon women's golf team faced off against a tough field in its first tournament of the 2013-14 season and finished 10th at The "Mo"Morial hosted by Texas A&M.

Sunna Vidisdottir led the Phoenix throughout the event and placed in a tie for 31st out of 70 individuals in the tournament. Vidisdottir concluded her first event of the year with a three-round score of 230 (75-75-80). She posted 35 pars over her three rounds of play.

Emily Brooks carded her best round of the tournament in Wednesday’s final round on her way to tying for 47th with a score of 237 (80-83-74).

In a tie for 52nd was Katie Partridge. Partridge shot a 242 (76-84-82) over her three rounds of action, while Kathryn Buckingham's mark of 252 (87-86-79) placed her 61st.

Taylor Wilkerson placed 70th after having to withdraw late in her final round.  She entered the final round with a two-day score of 176 (88-88).

Kentucky's Haley Mills was the lone player under par for the tournament as she claimed medalist honors with a 3-under 213 (70-72-71).

Mills' performance led the Wildcats to capture the team title, as well.  Kentucky finished with an 8-over 872 (294-292-286) to best 16th-ranked Virginia (298-296-289=883) by 11 strokes.

The remainder of the top five consisted of UCF (885), East Carolina (893) and host Texas A&M (894).

Elon will return to action at the W&M Invitational, which begins on Sept. 15 and concludes on Sept. 17 in Kings Mill, Va.
