USTFCCCA Announces All-Academic Teams

NEW ORLEANS—Ten Southern Conference track and field teams and five individual student-athletes have been recognized as members of the All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Wofford’s women’s track and field team posted the top team mark in the country with a 3.61 cumulative team GPA. Chattanooga’s men’s team was recognized as having the third-highest GPA in the nation with a 3.505 cumulative GPA.

Teams qualifying for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To qualify for the individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds)during the outdoor season or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org during the indoor season.

Women’s teams receiving All-Academic honors from the SoCon were Appalachian State, Elon, UNCG, Chattanooga, Western Carolina and Wofford.

Appalachian State’s Cassie Crawford (3.92) and Amanda Hamilton (3.8), Elon’s Caroline McCaslin (3.86) and Western Carolina’s Tayla Carter (3.5) and Jocelyn Keen (3.26) were the SoCon’s individual representatives on the All-Academic team.

Among SoCon men’s programs, Davidson, UNCG, Chattanooga and Wofford earned All-Academic distinction.
