BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford designated hitter C.K. Irby and outfielder Christiaan Durdaller were both honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association when the organization released its Rawlings/ABCA All-South Region and All-America teams on Wednesday.

Irby was named first-team All-Region and first-team All-American by the ABCA. Durdaller earned first-team All-Region honors, as well.

Irby, who was drafted in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins earlier this month, led the team and ranked third in the SoCon in batting with a .383 average. Irby also ranked fourth in the league in RBIs (59) and fifth in total bases (133).

Durdaller led the team and tied for third in the SoCon in home runs with 14. Durdaller also ranked fifth in the league in slugging percentage at .649 and on-base percentage at .451.

At the conclusion of the regular season, both Irby and Durdaller were named to the All-SoCon team. Irby was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which goes to the top player in all of Division I college baseball. Durdaller was tabbed as a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson “Breakout Player of the Year” award.
