NORMAN, Okla. – Despite shooting a 1-over par 73 during her second round of play on Tuesday, Western Carolina rising sophomore Taylor Allison finished tied for 101st overall out of the 156-golfer field, missing the stroke-play cut at the 37th annual United States Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship being held at the par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Allison, who qualified for the national tournament event by finishing third with an even-par 72 in her qualifying event at the Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, N.C., posted rounds of 85 and 73 for a two-day total of 158 overall.

The low 64 golfers from the two rounds of stroke play advanced into the six-round match-play portion of the championship, with the cut made amidst a tie for 59th at 9-over par. Through the first 36 holes of stroke play, only 11 golfers were at or below par for the course.

With the course playing at a length of 6,287 yards on Monday afternoon, Allison shot an opening-round 85. The Elizabeth City, N.C., native opened on the back nine with a 6-over par, posting a pair of double bogeys and two bogeys. She carded a birdie on the par-3 second hole – the 11th of her round – but finished her first 18 holes with four scores of bogey or worse.

Allison bounced back on Tuesday, countering two bogeys and a double-bogey with three birdies, finishing the second round at 1-over par 73. Birdies on the par-3, 153-yard third and 147-yard sixth holes on the front nine with a bogey on the par-4 ninth left her 1-under par for the round at the turn.

On the back nine Tuesday, a bogey on the par-4, 375-yard 11th put her back at even for the day. Two holes later, Allison birdied the par-5, 474-yard hole No. 13 to again stand 1-under on her final 18 holes. However, a double-bogey for the second straight day on the par-4 17th left her 2-over on the back nine and 1-over for the second round.

The combination stroke and match-play event is slated to conclude on June 22.
