SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Amanda Hamilton, a senior on the Appalachian State women’s track and field team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for April 3, the league office announced today.
Over the weekend at the Raleigh Relays, Hamilton set a new school record in the 10,000m run, finishing with a time of 34:52.76. Her time broke a 24-year-old Appalachian State record and was good enough for fifth place in the event.
The health care management major from Cary, N.C., currently holds a 3.80 GPA.
Also nominated were Davidson men’s track’s Demetrios Pagonis, Elon women’s track’s Emily Tryon, Furman softball’s Stephanie Spain and Chattanooga men’s track’s Nathan Wanuch.
