Weekend Schedule
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 2013 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship is set for Saturday and Sunday (April 20-21) at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. This will be the 89th annual Outdoor Track and Field Championship for the men and the 27th annual for the women.
The championships will begin Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with the men’s decathlon events, followed by the women’s heptathlon events at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 5:45 p.m.

The Appalachian State men and women took the title in 2012. It was the third consecutive title for the Mountaineer men, while the women have won back-to-back championships. The men scored 238 points followed by Western Carolina with 225. The women tallied 207.5 points, followed by Western Carolina with 149.
Twenty-one student-athletes return to this year’s championships to defend their 2012 individual titles including 10 on the men’s side and 11 on the women’s side.
In the most recent power rankings, which include meets through April 19, Western Carolina leads the men’s side with a four-point advantage over Appalachian State, followed closely by Samford. On the women’s side, Appalachian State holds the edge over Western Carolina, followed by Samford.
The rankings are determined by the top eight times or scores that are reported by the schools for each event that will be conducted at this weekend’s championships.
