Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon’s Veronica Luedke and Appalachian State’s Jasmine Suydam have been named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over last weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.

Luedke was second in the 400m hurdles Saturday at the Joe Hilton Invite at the University of North Carolina with a time of 1:01.55. This is second on the SoCon list for the 2013 season.

Suydam won three events at the Appalachian Open Meet on April 12. She won the shot put with a SoCon-leading mark 46’ 2”, won the discus with a toss of 136’ 6” and threw a season-best mark of 153’ 10” in the hammer for the win.

There were no men's nominees this week.

All teams will be back in action this weekend at the 2013 SoCon Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
