UTC?s Sauzon Named Women?s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga sophomore Agathe Sauzon has been named the Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for all competition April 3-9. The selection is made by the league office.

Sauzon shot a three-round 217 at the Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday. She posted 41 pars, a season best for a UTC golfer, en route to her first career top-10 finish, as she tied for eighth in the 104-player field.

The Valance, France, native’s 217 was a season low for a Moc golfer and was the team’s best 54-hole score since Christine Wolf posted a 209 in a winning effort at the 2011 JMU Eagle Landing Invitational. Sauzon shot consistent rounds of 72, 72 and 73 for her 1-over total.

As a team, Chattanooga finished 12th in the 20-team Web.com Intercollegiate field, which included six teams ranked in the top 50 nationally and two in the top 20. There were four of the top 100 individuals playing, including one in the top five and a pair in the top 50.

Chattanooga and the other nine league teams are next in action at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., from Sunday to Tuesday. The Mocs will be seeking their fourth consecutive title.
