SPARTANBURG, S.C. - JP Kuhlman, a senior men's basketball player at Davidson, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for March 13, the league office announced today.
Kuhlman was an integral part of the Wildcats' championship team at this weekend's SoCon tournament. The saved some of his best games for last, averaging 9.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists with a 1.4 assist to turnover ratio on the weekend. He went an impressive 11-of-14 for 78.6 percent from the floor and shot 71.4 percent (5-7) from downtown, including a halftime buzzer beater in the championship game. Kuhlman went 6-of-7 from the floor for 14 points against the College of Charleston, helping him to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Second Team.
The religion major from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., currently holds a 3.804 GPA.
Other nominees included Appalachian State softball's Allie Cashion, Samford women's basketball's Taylor Reece, and Western Carolina softball's Heather Chastain.
