UTC?s McLennan Named Women?s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga freshman Emily McLennan has been named the Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for all competition March 6-12. The selection is made by the league office.

McLennan, a freshman from Queensland, Australia, turned in her second career top-10 finish, tying for ninth at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational in Orange Park, Fla., over the weekend. As a team, the Mocs finished fifth as a team in the 17-team field, which also included SoCon schools Elon, Samford and Western Carolina.

McLennan turned in a 73.7 stroke average over the three-day tournament, which featured three of the top 100 golfers nationally and 97 golfers, total. She turned in a 1-under 71 in Friday’s first round en route to matching her best career 54-hole score with a 221.

Chattanooga is back on the course at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., on March 15-17.

Also nominated: Rumbidzai Masamvu (Appalachian State) and Laura Wearn (Furman).
