GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNCG women's tennis team fell to NC State, 7-0 on Thursday.

Senior Annette Rios and sophomore Kayla Gammie dropped their doubles match against Nicole Martinez and Elisha Hande, 8-2.

Junior Dilara Yurtkuran and sophomore Stephanie Falcon teamed up against Sophie Nelson and Chloe Smith, but fell 8-6, while seniors Alex Whitehead and Niltooli Wilkins lost with a close score of 9-8 (7-4) to Joelle Kissell (No. 33) and Tatiana Illova.

In singles play, Rios fell to Illova, 6-2, 6-3, while Wilkins dropped a 7-5, 6-3 match to No. 33 Joelle Kissell.

Whitehead lost in a tough three sets to Rachael James-Baker, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Yurtkuran also fought in a three-set match, but Nicole Martinez of NC State took the win, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.

Falcon dueled Hande and fell, 6-0, 6-2, while freshman Soumeya Anane lost against Chloe Smith in a third-set tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2).

UNCG returns to action Saturday, Feb. 9, when they host Campbell at home. Play begins at noon.
