SORRENTO, Fla. – The
College of Charleston women’s golf team shot the 10th-best final
round and finished 15th at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday at the RedTail Golf
Club.
For the tournament, the Cougars shot rounds of
299-308-300=907 (+43) and finished ahead of South Florida, Georgia State and
Oregon State in a high-caliber field.
North Carolina shot the best final round as it ran away with
the title at 10-under with a 17-shot victory over second-place Tulane.
Freshman Julia Neumann was the best individual finisher for
the Cougars as she carded rounds of 71-78-74 and finished tied for 33rd place.
Right behind Neumann was freshman Stacey Tomlinson, who shot the best final
round for the Cougars, 73, and finished tied for 36th place.
Senior Vanessa Koechli finished tied for 59th, freshman Mary
Chandler Bryan finished tied for 66th and junior Kathryn Miranda finished 93rd
for the Cougars.
Up next, the Cougars host the largest tournament in
collegiate golf as they welcome more than 30 teams to Kiawah Island for the
Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic on March 3-5.
