SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Anna Claire Knight, a basketball player at Georgia Southern, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 18, the league office announced Wednesday.
Knight is a junior from Dublin, Ga., and holds a 3.84 GPA in sports management. She was named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll in her first two seasons at GSU.
Knight helped the Eagles earn a 79-70 win over Wofford on Monday, scoring a team-high 19 points, grabbing three rebounds and handing out three assists in 32 minutes of action. She leads the Eagles in scoring and is third in the SoCon, averaging 15.5 points per contest.
Also nominated for Student-Athlete of the Week were Appalachian State women’s basketball player Maryah Sydnor, Samford women’s basketball player Shelby Campbell and Chattanooga women’s basketball player Taylor Hall.
