GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman head men’s soccer coach Doug Allison has been named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) South Region Coach of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday.

Allison, who picked up his third NSCAA Region Coach of the Year honor, guided Furman to an 11-5-2 record during the 2013 season. His squad claimed victories over nationally ranked opponents Xavier, Clemson and Elon, while five Paladins garnered All-Southern Conference honors and Bobby Edet was named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year.

Over 19 years as head coach at Furman, Allison has posted a 247-107-37 record. His .679 winning percentage ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Division I soccer among active head coaches. Allison, who has guided the Paladins to nine SoCon regular-season crowns and six SoCon tournament titles, has been named league coach of the year six times.

The region coach of the year winners will be honored at the NSCAA National Convention on Thursday, Jan. 16. Each of the winners, along with four additional coaches, will appear on the national coach of the year ballot.
