KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Furman women’s soccer standout Carlie Couch has been named the Disney Soccer/National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday afternoon on the NSCAA College Highlights and Rankings Show.

A freshman from Tifton, Ga., Couch scored three goals and added an assist this past weekend to lead the Paladins to a pair of victories that helped clinch the school’s first Southern Conference regular-season title since 2003. The forward, who earlier in the day was named SoCon Player of the Week, delivered the eventual game-winning tally on a header in Friday’s 2-0 triumph over Georgia Southern to open her weekend account before exploding for two goals and an assist in the opening 33 minutes of Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Davidson.

Couch, a leading candidate for SoCon Freshman of the Year, has tallied 10 goals and five assists during her rookie campaign and leads the league with nine goals and 23 total points in nine SoCon matches.

The Paladins, 13-3-2 overall and 7-1-1 in league play, return to action on Wednesday night when they host Wofford in the regular-season finale on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
